Chef charged with death of man whose body was found on fire in St Andrew

A St Andrew chef has been charged for the death of a man whose body was found on fire along a road in the Olympic Gardens area in November 2025.

Charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony is Shaquille Pellington, otherwise called ‘Biggs,’ of a Kingston 11 address.

Killed was 29-year-old Sequan Grant, whose body was found at the intersection of Balmagie and Bishop Avenue in St Andrew, on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that about 6:00 a.m., a passer-by stumbled upon Grant lying along the roadway, engulfed in flames, and summoned the police.

On their arrival, Grant was seen severely burnt and with several wounds to the body.

He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation into the incident was launched.

Following the investigation, Grant was taken into custody on Sunday, January 11.

He was charged on Tuesday, January 13, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

A court date is being finalised for him.
