St Catherine man admits to cocaine possession, granted bail
A St Catherine man who pleaded guilty to possession and dealing in cocaine was granted $200,000 bail in the parish court on Friday.
Douglas Forbes admitted to charges of possession of cocaine and dealing in the drug during his appearance.
Attorney-at-law Atiba Dyer successfully applied for bail on Forbes’ behalf. He told the court Forbes was remorseful, did not waste the court’s time, has a steady place of abode, and takes responsibility for his actions.
Parish Judge Genetta Smikle granted the application after confirming with the Clerk of Court that bail was not opposed.
Forbes is required to report to the police three times weekly and will reappear in court on March 6.
According to the police, on January 4, officers conducted an operation in Independence City, Portmore, St Catherine, targeting guns and drugs.
During the operation, a search warrant executed at Forbes’ residence led to the discovery of a bag containing 15 grams of a white powdery substance, later confirmed to be cocaine.
Forbes admitted to the police that he dealt in the drug and was subsequently arrested and charged.
