Detectives from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Renaldo Brooks, a farmer of St Elizabeth, as they probe the seizure of more than 100 pounds of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport on Monday.

According to the police, at about 7:00 p.m., anomalies were detected during an electronic examination of a suitcase destined for Canada.

A subsequent search of the luggage revealed sachets containing more than 100 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $30 million, the police reported.

Director of FNID, Superintendent Patrae Rowe, said heightened vigilance at Jamaica’s ports has been instrumental in the seizure of illicit drugs.

“We are maintaining a high level of vigilance at our ports of entry. This seizure underscores our commitment to disrupting the narcotics trade and ensuring that those who attempt to use our airports for criminal activity are brought to justice,” Rowe said in a statement on Wednesday.

The police are urging Brooks to report to the FNID headquarters or the nearest police station, as investigators believe he can provide vital information regarding the seizure.

Additionally, anyone with information is being asked to contact FNID at 876-923-6184, the police emergency number 119, or the nearest police station.
