Jamaicans lead major project to deliver better healthcare outcomes for black Canadians

A national groundbreaking project to provide genomic evidence for precision medicine for select chronic diseases among black people in Canada has been launched in Toronto. Its goal is to help create better healthcare that meets the needs of black Canadians. Among the leaders of ‘The genCARE Project’ are Jamaicans Dr Upton Allen, professor of paediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), University of Toronto; and Dr OmiSoore Dryden, Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Black Health Studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
