Police in the St Andrew North Division are investigating a housebreaking and larceny at a residence in Roehampton and have named a suspect while urging residents in nearby communities to heighten security measures.

Police say they are seeking 39-year-old Errol Michael, otherwise called “Hoghead,” a gardener of 12 Panton Road in Stony Hill, St Andrew, in connection with the incident.

Investigators noted that Michael was released from custody in January on breaking and firearm-related charges.

Reports are that the occupants securely locked their premises and left for work about 8 a.m. on Monday. When they returned about 6 p.m., they discovered that a section of the grille on the veranda had been cut open and then placed back into position.

Further checks revealed that three Wyze brand security cameras mounted to the front and side of the house were missing.

The complainant later reviewed footage through the camera application and reportedly saw a man on the premises. One of the cameras inside the kitchen reportedly captured the suspect before it was damaged and removed.

The Gleaner has since obtained the video footage.

Items reported stolen include a PlayStation 5 console with two controllers valued at $125,000, two PlayStation 4 controllers valued at $9,500, and three Wyze security cameras valued at $23,500.

Superintendent Randy Sweeney, who heads the St Andrew North Police Division, is urging residents in areas such as Constant Spring, Mannings Hill Road, Miramar, Havendale, Meadowbrook and Roehampton to remain vigilant.

Sweeney is also encouraging residents to ensure that doors and windows are properly secured and, where possible, install and monitor CCTV systems, particularly those equipped with motion sensors, and report any suspicious activity.

He noted that the division recorded about 120 break-ins last year, placing St Andrew North among the highest across the country for the offence.

As at March 7, the division recorded six robberies and five break-ins, representing a 46 per cent and 82 per cent reduction, respectively.

Anyone with information on Michael’s whereabouts is being asked to contact the Constant Spring Police Station at 876-924-1421 or call 119. Police are also urging him to turn himself in immediately.
