A minor earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 was felt in parts of Jamaica on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
The Earthquake Unit reported that the tremor occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. and was located about 18 kilometres south of Annotto Bay in St Mary.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Jamaica experiences frequent minor earthquakes because of its location along the boundary of the Caribbean and North American tectonic plates.
Most are too small to cause significant damage, though some are felt by residents across sections of the island, experts have said.
