Security company Beryllium Limited says it is undertaking a full internal investigation following the robbery of automated teller machines (ATMs) at the Portmore, St Catherine, branch of Scotiabank.
In a statement, Beryllium said it is working closely with the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
According to the police, between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, the culprits gained access to the ATMs, stole cash and escaped.
The theft was discovered during routine checks by security personnel, who noticed that the door to the ATM facility was partially open, police reported.
Although the exact amount stolen has not been determined, investigators believe it is substantial.
Police said investigators reviewed surveillance footage that reportedly showed several individuals dressed in black arriving in a Nissan Latio sedan before entering the area used by security personnel to access the ATMs.
The group allegedly used access codes to open four ATM safes before removing a large sum of cash and fleeing the scene.
Beryllium said its priority is the safety of its personnel, the security of its clients' assets, and establishing the facts surrounding the incident.
"As the matter remains under active investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time," the company said.
Beryllium added that it remains committed to supporting its clients, maintaining the highest standards of security and implementing any additional measures deemed necessary based on the outcome of the investigation.
