Judiciary mourns passing of Senior Parish Judge Dionne Gallimore Rose, remembered for her leadership and dedication to justice

The judiciary is mourning the passing of Her Honour Dionne Gallimore Rose, Senior Parish Judge of the Western Regional Family Court.

She passed away today.

The judiciary said her distinguished judicial career left a lasting mark on the lives of countless Jamaicans and on the institution.

"She will be remembered with the utmost respect for her distinguished service, her steadfast leadership and her lasting contribution to Jamaica's courts."

Paying tribute, Chief Justice Bryan Sykes said Gallimore Rose embodied the highest standards of judicial service.

"She carried out her duties with integrity, fairness and humanity, earning the esteem of all who came before her and all who worked alongside her. Her impact on the judiciary reached well beyond the courtroom. She was a trusted colleague, a skilled judicial officer and a mentor whose professionalism and quiet leadership helped strengthen our institution," he said.

"For many years, Judge Gallimore Rose served the people of Jamaica with distinction, devoting much of her judicial career to matters involving families, children and some of the most vulnerable members of our society. She understood that the Family Court is more than a venue for resolving legal disputes; it is often a place where lives are rebuilt, futures are safeguarded and hope is renewed. She carried out that responsibility with compassion, patience and an unwavering dedication to justice," he said.

Gallimore Rose's legal and judicial career spanned more than 30 years.

She began in 1989 as a legal clerk in the Supreme Court, later serving as Crown Counsel in both Jamaica and Belize.

On her return to Jamaica, she was appointed a Resident Magistrate in 2002 and went on to serve in several courts, including the Civil Court in Kingston and St Andrew, the Westmoreland Parish Court and the Western Regional Family Court.

Her outstanding leadership and service led to her promotion to Senior Parish Judge in 2017, a position she held with distinction until her passing.
