The police in St Catherine are probing the shooting death of a man in Central Village on Tuesday.

Gunned down is 58-year-old higgler Ivan Smith, otherwise called ‘Shortman’, who lived in the area.

The police report that about 10:30 a.m., Smith was pounced upon by two men armed with guns while standing at a shop in the community.

The men reportedly fired shots, hitting Smith in his upper body.

The police were summoned to the scene, and Smith was found lying on his back in a pool of blood.

The scene was processed, and he was removed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Central Village Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
