Man who was on the run over fatal Spanish Town stabbing arrested in St Mary, charged

A man who was on the run in connection with a fatal stabbing in Spanish Town, St Catherine in November 2025 has been charged with murder after being apprehended in St Mary.

Charged is 35-year-old farmer Veral Miller, otherwise called ‘Mario’, of Caymanas, Portmore, St Catherine.

Miller is accused of stabbing 21-year-old Ricardo Powell, otherwise called ‘Red Bull’, a driver of Portmore, St Catherine, during an altercation on November 11, 2025.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that about 5:45 p.m., Miller and Powell were involved in an altercation on White Church Street in Spanish Town.

The police say that during the dispute, Miller used a knife to stab Powell multiple times to his upper body before fleeing the scene.

Powell was assisted by persons to hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The incident was reported to the police, who launched an investigation.

Miller was arrested by the police in Fort Stewart, St Mary, on Sunday, August 23, and was subsequently escorted to the Spanish Town Police Station.

He was later charged after a caution statement was recorded and a question-and-answer session conducted.

His court date is being finalised.
