Update | 24-y-o St Andrew man charged with murder over fatal stabbing over bath pan

The police in St Andrew have arrested and charged a man who allegedly fatally stabbed another man after the two had a physical altercation over a bath pan.

Charged with murder is 24-year-old Antonio Smith, otherwise called ‘Rajay’, a labourer of Donmair Close, St Andrew.

Killed was 28-year-old Tristan Parkes of Donmair Close, St Andrew, who was a student at the Caribbean Maritime University.

Reports from the Constant Spring police are that on Thursday, August 20, Parkes and Smith had a dispute over a bath pan, which was settled by a resident.

The police further report that after the dispute, Smith left and retrieved a knife from his house before returning.

According to the police, another altercation developed between the two men, during which Smith used the knife to inflict wounds to Parkes’ chest.

Parkes was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.

The police say Smith later turned himself in.

He was subsequently arrested and charged following a caution statement and a question-and-answer interview.

His court date is being finalised.
