Deputy House Clerk Christopher Cowan resigns with immediate effect

Christopher Cowan, the Deputy Clerk to the Houses of Parliament, has resigned with immediate effect.
Cowan's resignation letter, which is dated September 28 and was seen by The Gleaner, said his decision was not one taken lightly, but he was left with no other choice but to resign.
Issues with the current Clerk, Coleen Lowe, were cited by Cowan as among the reasons for his immediate departure.
He did not go into specifics.
According to him, he was not the only current or former worker who has had issues with Lowe's leadership, claiming that these concerns were shared by a previous director of corporate services, previous and current senior legislative counsels, chief [position/title missing].
In a parting shot, Cowan called for “urgent reform and improvement in the administration of the Parliament's affairs”, stating that it was unfortunate that he would not be part of the process.
There has been disquiet among some parliamentary staff.
