Update | Pops YG released on pre-charge bail as police continue alleged lottery scamming probe

Entertainer and popular social media personality Pops YG has been released on pre-charge bail, his attorney has disclosed.

Donnovan Collins said his client, whose real name is Ansel Fairclough, was granted bail in the sum of $300,000.

Pre-charge bail allows the police to release a person who has been arrested while an investigation continues, even though no formal charges have been laid.

“My client has maintained his innocence. He was interviewed in my presence. It was one of the longest question-and-answer sessions I have done in a while. He answered all the questions to show the investigators that he had nothing to hide,” he told The Gleaner on Wednesday.

Collins also represents the other three men who were arrested with Fairclough at his home in Holland Estate in Trelawny on Monday during a TikTok live stream.

He was arrested at his Trelawny home on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act, commonly called the lottery scam law.

One of the men has been charged with an offence under the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act, the attorney disclosed.

The other two were released without any criminal charge.
