A 63-year-old truck driver and a 21-year-old truck driver’s assistant have been charged with allegedly stealing bags of feed that they were given to deliver to customers in Glengoffe, St Catherine, by their employer.
The driver, Winston Sutherland, of Glengoffe, St Catherine, and his assistant, Andre Hylton, of Golden Spring, St Andrew, have been charged with larceny as a servant.
A woman, 26-year-old Sakina Jones, a bar owner of Mount Concord in Glengoffe, who is accused of purchasing the stolen feed, has been charged with receiving stolen property.
Reports from the Glengoffe police are that between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, Sutherland and Hylton, who were both employed to a farm and distribution company, were instructed to deliver bags of feed to two locations in Glengoffe, St Catherine.
They were issued an invoice detailing the deliveries.
The police say that following the deliveries, the business owner was contacted by one of the recipients, who reported that seven bags of feed were missing.
According to the police, upon reviewing CCTV footage with the recipient, it was observed that some of the feed had been delivered by both accused men to an unauthorised location.
The business owner reported the matter to the police and was accompanied by the team to visit the location where the feed was reportedly delivered.
The police say that on their arrival at Jones’ house, four bags of feed were seen at the premises.
When questioned about the origin of the feed, she stated that she had purchased them from Hylton, according to the police.
Jones was subsequently arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, while Hylton and Sutherland were charged with larceny as a servant.
Their court date is being finalised.
