A man was fatally hit by a bus along the Llandovery main road in St Ann last night.

The bus was transporting the Montego Bay United (MBU) football team from their Jamaica Premier League match in Clarendon earlier on Sunday.

The deceased has not yet been identified.

The police report that the bus was travelling in a westerly direction towards Runaway Bay when, on reaching a section of the roadway, the right side of the front of the vehicle struck the man, who they said appeared to have been in the centre of the roadway.

It is understood that the man was of unsound mind and reportedly stepped into the path of the bus.

The incident is being investigated by the police.

Meanwhile, when contacted, MBU's technical director said no player or member of the team was hurt in the accident.
