From an exciting business seminar, to a large MSME exhibition area, to the industry showcase and other areas, the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Expo 2020, did indeed ‘drive success through enterprise’ last weekend.

Micro-businesses from within the tourism capital and the wider St James got the opportunity to showcase a wide variety of products which ranged from pottery, to fine craft items and even natural hair and skin products.

Of note was the fresh farm produce on show from the neighbouring Rose Hall Agri-Venures, which included organic lettuce and other cruciferous vegetables grown in the greenhouses not too far away from the picturesque Montego Bay Convention Centre, where the event was held.

It was, indeed, a grand affair and an ode to Montego Bay and the rest of western Jamaica at what was the region’s largest trade fair spanning more than 100 exhibitors.

The Housing Forum on Friday, which featured presentations by the National Housing Trust, Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ), Whitter Group, as well as the National Commercial Bank, did not disappoint, as attendees were able to learn about opportunities to purchase land for as low as $50,0000 through the HAJ, how to acquire land titles, as well as about mortgage loan facilities offered by other financial institutions.

On the weekend, children frolicked in the kiddies village and enjoyed themselves with wild abandon, as their parents and guardians browsed the exhibition hall. Certainly, there was entertainment throughout led by Coral Cliff, and which also included dance competitions and other activities.

The exposition quite fittingly climaxed with an evening of praise, in the form of a gospel concert featuring prolific acts such as Hearts in Soul, Shawn Earle, and the Green Heights Assembly Group, all from western Jamaica.
