The Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) has officially opened registration for its 55th Annual General Meeting, Conference & Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Paramaribo, Suriname, from October 12-14, 2025.

The flagship event of the CSA calendar, the conference will bring together maritime leaders, decision-makers, and industry professionals from the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond. This year’s conference, hosted by the Suriname Port Management Company, is expected to draw stakeholders from across the region’s maritime, shipping, and logistics sectors. Sessions will explore a range of critical issues facing the sector, including geopolitical disruptions, port security, green infrastructure, and digital resilience.

Lars Jensen, chief executive director of Vespucci Maritime, will address the session ‘Turmoil in Shipping and Geopolitics – What Comes Next?’ Other highlights include ‘Empathy in a Cutthroat World’ led by Mireille Berggraaf, and ‘Artificial Intelligence in Maritime Operations: Unlocking Efficiency, Safety, and Strategic Advantage’.

The programme also includes panel discussions on intra-Caribbean connectivity, climate-resilient port infrastructure, the implementation of port community systems, and the role of customs in modern maritime trade. A cultural networking event will round out the first day, offering participants the opportunity to experience Surinamese hospitality while building business connections. Day two will feature a series of roundtable discussions covering smart port technology, decarbonisation, cybersecurity, and the future of maritime workforce development.

The exhibition, open throughout the duration of the event, will showcase innovative solutions and services from regional and international partners.

This 55th staging marks a milestone for the CSA and highlights the organisation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening maritime collaboration and growth in the Caribbean.
