Curfew imposed in March Pen in Spanish Town over deadly gun attack

The police have imposed a curfew in the community of March Pen in Spanish Town, St Catherine, following Wednesday night’s deadly gun attack.

Four people were shot, two fatally, in the attack.

The incident happened along Corletts Road in the community at around 10:30 p.m.

Speaking on Thursday afternoon, Senior Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, commanding officer of the St Catherine North Division, indicated that ongoing gang feuds played a role in the attack, noting that the March Pen area has been an area of concern since last November.

Nicholson stated that the police have identified six men as persons of interest in relation to the incident.

He said the police will be working assiduously to keep the area and residents safe.

The curfew began at 6:00 p.m. today and will remain in place until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

The boundaries are:

NORTH - From the intersection of Salt Island Road and the Spanish Town Bypass at the stoplight to the intersection of White Church Street and Salt Pond Road, in the vicinity of the stoplight, travelling about 1.29 kilometres along the Spanish Town Bypass.

EAST - From the intersection of White Church Street and Salt Pond Road, in the vicinity of the stoplight, travelling along Salt Pond Road about 1.23 kilometres to the toll road at the bridge.

SOUTH - From the toll road, in the vicinity of the bridge at Salt Pond Road, travelling along the toll road about 2.77 kilometres to the intersection of the toll road and Salt Island Road.

WEST - From the end of the southern boundary at the intersection of Salt Island Road and the toll road, travelling along Salt Island Road for about 1.97 kilometres to the beginning of the northern boundary at the intersection of Salt Island Road and the Spanish Town Bypass.
