Champs beaten in St Mary 35 overs cricket
Top End crushed defending champions Boscobel by 206 runs in the opening match of the St Mary Cricket Association LP Martin's Funeral Home 35 overs competition at Boscobel on Sunday.
Batting first, Top End chalked up an impressive 295 all out, with Delroy Stone making a stroke-filled 95. When Boscobel batted they were skittled out for a paltry 89, with no batsman offering resistance to D. Clarke, who picked up five for 20.
Over at Galina, highly touted Jack's River were made to fight all the way before defeating Galina by 17 runs. Taking first knock, Jack's River were bowled out for 179, with skipper Orane Farr, 44, and T. Daley, 54, being the main run-getters against J. Brown, 3-20 and D. Brown, 2-30.
Galina were restricted to 162 for five, with R. Gordon, 61 and D. Brown, 29, the top batsmen against D. Walker, 2-21.
Over at Wilderness, the home team were trounced by 113 runs by Sandals/Beaches resorts. The hotel men took first strike and rattled up 195 all out, thanks to Delroy Patterson, 47, and Samuel McIntosh, 36.
Wilderness were bundled out for 83, with Marlon Thompson taking 5-20.
