Diamond Debate | 100m showdown in Paris
Andre Lowe: An interesting men's 100m awaits at the Paris Diamond League meet today
Raymond Graham: Yes indeed. Six men, who have gone under 10 seconds will feature; this is going to be a cracker!
Andre Lowe: It's another good chance to take a look at some of the names that at one point or the other have been labelled the future of men's sprinting, with Ronnie Baker in particular, looking impressive this season
Raymond Graham: This will indeed be a good test for Baker to see if he is the real deal after his good start this year
Andre Lowe: He'll face a seemingly re-energised Mike Rodgers, who has the second fastest time so far this year, 9.89 seconds and wants to show that although he's kind of the big brother here, he can still mix it up with the best
Raymond Graham: Rodgers' sub 9.9 seconds shows that he can be a factor and I think Jimmy Vicaut at home will also be very dangerous. It will be interesting to see what Yohan Blake will do here as he needs something big to get back his self confidence
Andre Lowe: Vicaut has a 9.92 to his credit this season and like you said, he can be dangerous in front of his home crowd. Still he's never won this event here and I don't expect him to change this today. With Bingtian Su, Akani Simbine and Blake - well depending on which version of Yohan we see today, Vicaut will find too much in front of him.
Raymond Graham: He has never won in Paris, but I guarantee that the home crowd will give him enough support and we could see something very special
Andre Lowe: Unlikely. I'm going with consistency, I fully expect Baker to continue his good season and win here in Paris
Raymond Graham: That's a good choice but I am going a different route as we could see the Chinese , Su and Vicaut leading them home and I am going for Vicaut to score a big win on home soil. I also expect a big improvement from Blake, who could go sub 10 seconds for the first time this season.
