After securing the T20 Blaze title last week, Jamaica’s Women are on the verge of a remarkable double as they booked their place in the final of the Women’s Super 50 tournament following an eight-wicket win over Guyana in their rain-affected semi-final at Providence yesterday.

In the 38 overs-per-side affair, Jamaica won the toss and blew away the hosts, Guyana, for a record low of 23 runs off 12 overs, with off-spinner Vanessa Watts and medium-pacer Chinelle Henry both bagging five wickets.

Watts got four of her five wickets via the leg-before wicket route while Henry used her pace and accuracy to great effect to dismantle the Guyana batting unit, with seven batters failing to score and extras of nine being the top score.

Watts finished with the hugely impressive figures of 5.2 overs, one maiden five wickets for five runs, while Henry was also brilliant with six overs, three maidens, and five wickets for 18.

In their pursuit of the small target, Jamaica lost two wickets as Rashada Williams top-scored with 12, with Jodi-Ann Morgan not out on eight.

Both Watts and Henry were delighted with their match-winning performances.

“I am happy that I got some wickets, which, in the end, helped the team to victory. I just came out and did what the team wanted me to do,” said Watts.

“Since the World Cup, I have been putting in the work, and I knew I had to come here and lead from the front, and I am glad I could help my team to another final,” said Henry.

The Stafanie Taylor-led Jamaica side will now look to secure the “double” when they take on Hayley Matthews and the Barbados team in the final tomorrow starting at 8:30 a.m. Jamaica time.
