More than 140 student-athletes and their coaches from central Jamaica have benefited from the first 2022 MVP Grassroots Athletics Training Camp at GC Foster College last Saturday.

MVP Track Club President Bruce James said the feedback was excellent.

“As always the Puma gear was an absolute hit with all the student-athletes in attendance. They also were well hydrated throughout the entire camp thanks to Wisynco brands, WATA, Powerade, Tru Shake and Tru Juice. National Commercial Bank (NCB) also representatives shared insight for financial strategies with the participants while the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) assisted in funding breakfast and lunch for the student-athletes and their coaches,” James said.

He said 10 boys and girls were rewarded by a sponsor for their outstanding performances across the six combined athletics skill (sprinting, distance running, hurdles, jumps, throws and relays) which all athletes were trained in.

The Puma Girl of the Camp was Shania Myers from Hydel High School and the Puma Boy of the Camp was Nicholas Williams from Edwin Allen High School. Natassia Burrell of Hydel and Demario Prince from St Jago High School were named the respective NCB Girl and Boy of last weekend’s camp.

SDF Girl of the Camp was Shericka Christie of Hydel while the SDF Boy was Ajani Murphy of Guys Hill High School.

Powerade Girl of the Camp was Tusandre Dennis of St Catherine High School while Shaiquan Dunn of St Jago was named the Powerade Boy of the Camp. Martina Moxam of Vere Technical High School and Mwalemo Thomas from of Bridgeport High School were the respective WATA Girl and Boy of the Camp.

Coach Kerron Grant of Vere Technical High School was also recognised as Puma coach of the Camp.

Among those in attendance at the camp were top junior sprinter Bryan Levell and Olympian and NCB Brand Ambassador Julian Forte. The programme continues tomorrow in Montego Bay.
