Waterhouse rebounded from their 2-1 defeat by Molynes last weekend with a 3-0 win over Montego Bay United in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) at the Waterhouse Mini-stadium yesterday, and assistant coach Damion Gordon was grateful to be back in the winning column.

"It is a very good morale booster. Thank God for the victory. We have to be grateful because the team is up and down, so a win is good," he added.

It was the team's first win in two games since returning to their home stadium, and Gordon pointed out that playing at home assisted their efforts.

He also said the work they did on the training ground was evident in the match.

"How we executed was very good," Gordon said while adding that it really feels good to see the players come out on match day and do things they have practised on the training ground.

The game was only five minutes old when Denardo Thomas fired the hosts in front.

However, the St James-based Montego Bay refused to sit back after going behind so early, and in the 21st minute, Nevaun Turner headed a great chance wide.

Waterhouse also had their fair share of chances, but Shaquiel Bradford headed wide and Andre Fletcher put an easy chance over the crossbar.

Marland Maxwell got a great chance for Montego Bay after some sloppy play at the back by Waterhouse, but he blasted across the face of goal.

Minutes before the break, Waterhouse's Orlando Brown's shot hit the post and was deflected for a corner, which Kenroy Howell headed home in the 44th minute to put the hosts 2-0 up at halftime.

In the second half, Montego Bay created a host of chances, and Ahmal Nugent-Hudson, Johann Weatherly, Courtney Allen, and Nazime Matalie Grant all missed great opportunities to put their team on the scoresheet.

Late in the game, Ramone Howell's deflected strike in the 89th minute sealed the deal for Waterhouse and pushed them one place up to seventh with 21 points. Montego Bay remained 10th on 17 points

Montego Bay's coach, Donovan Duckie, lamented his team's inefficiency in front of goal but credited goalkeeper Kemar Foster for his outstanding saves.

"This is football, and if you say you have no emotion, you'll be lying. Sometimes we feel disheartened after how a game is played out, but we are professionals, and we will look to the next game.

"The result of the game is not a reflection of how we performed. We are disappointed with the result, but we will take the positives and build," Duckie said.
