VETERAN COACH and chairman of the Racers Grand Prix Glen Mills is pleased with the support the event grabbed on Saturday night at the National Stadium.

“We are thrilled with the level of competition and the stellar performances we witnessed today,” he said on Saturday.

“The dedication and hard work of these athletes are truly inspiring. Their participation has elevated the Racers Grand Prix to new heights, and we thank them for their commitment and excellence.”

The event saw a number of stellar performances, with Jamaica’s Oblique Seville bringing down the house with a 9.82-second personal best that got the better of no-less of a name than the United States’ Noah Lyles, whose 9.85 clocking for second was nothing to scoff at either.

Of course, there was also the performance of St Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who equalled Shericka Jackson’s 10.78-second stadium record in the women’s 100 metres.

Devon Blake, CEO of the Racers Grand Prix, thanked the sponsors, fans, and all stakeholders for their unwavering support.

“This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors, fans, and stakeholders. Their enthusiasm and engagement have been instrumental in making this year’s Racers Grand Prix a phenomenal success. We are grateful for their contributions and look forward to continuing this journey together,” said Blake.

The 2024 Racers Grand Prix was supported by an impressive line-up of sponsors, including Adidas, the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Sports Development Foundation, the Airport Authority of Jamaica (AAJ), Red Stripe, KFC, the Jamaica National Group, Digicel, Gatorade, Television Jamaica, the Jamaica Tourist Board, The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, Best Dressed Chicken, Double Seven, the Jamaica Observer, and Main Event.

The men’s triple jump was also of note, with the longest hop, skip, and jump from Jaydon Hibbert producing a world lead and stadium record at 17.75 metres.

“With the continued support of our sponsors and the passionate athletics community, the Racers Grand Prix remains a beacon of excellence in the world of track and field. We look forward to building on this success and delivering even more spectacular events in the future,” Blake added.
