IN 180 MINUTES of football, Frome Technical High School, and Rusea’s still have not found a way to separate themselves from each other, and furthermore, the two ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup football Zone B rivals have not found a way to score.

This time around, though, the teams’ 0-0 draw at the Collin Miller Sport Complex could be said to be down to the efforts of Rusea’s custodian, Sadrick Antoine.

Frome remains atop the zone with 20 points while Rusea’s have 17.

Anchovy, who won yesterday, beating Knockalva 4-1, are closer to the possibility of splitting the leaders to grab a second-round berth, as they are now on 15 points.

Cleighton Stephens, coach of Frome, said the hardest game to win is a derby game.

“Our main objective in the first round is to top the table. Rusea’s came and fought in the two games we played them. I am grateful I came out of both games not losing. We share the spoils, so I cannot complain about that,” Stephens said.

“The guys really fought, and they really tried. We dominated both games. The next two games, our aim is to win,” he added.

Antoine, who is just 14 years old, while pleased with his performance, believes his teammates who form the back line were integral to helping Rusea’s come away with a point.

“Without my defence line, it would have been a catostrophic result for us. We played Frome already, so we know their style of play. I studied their striker and know what he is capable of, so I sent my defence to stop him.”

“It was a good game, I made a few good saves. I was very sure we would have won, seeing it was a home game and how confident we were,” he added.

Frome were the more dominant team throughout, keeping the lanky Antoine busy.

Rusea’s also threw their fair share of punches, but also encountered stout defending from the home team.
