Edwin Allen look to maintain early season form at GC Foster today
Defending inter-secondary girls’ champions, Edwin Allen High, will be hoping to continue their early season form when they return to GC Foster College to compete at today’s Central Hurdles Relays and Field Events meet.
Athletes will be involved in several events on the track and in the field at today’s meet as they seek qualification marks for the March 25-29 ISSA-GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Edwin Allen will renew rivalry with former champions Holmwood Technical who also produced some very good performances a week ago at the same venue at the JAAA Puma Fuller Anderson Development meet.
After back-to-back wins in the 3000m open at the past two meets, Edwin Allen’s Sushana Johnson will be hoping for success in the opening event, the 2000m steeplechase open at 8:30 a.m. She will go up against Holmwood’s Icelyn Swaby and Kemeisha Gordon.
Following her sensational opening run of 53.60 seconds to win the 400m at the Purewater/R Danny Williams/JC Invitational meet two weeks ago, Edwin Allen’s Kelly Ann Carr will be hoping for another big run when she contests the 400m hurdles open today. Here she will have the likes of Holmwood’s Kristen Hibbert, St Jago High’s Qana Walker and Vere Technical’s Gayon Dunbar to contend with.
Among the males, Jamaica College will be hoping for a positive start when the trio of Tyrone Lawson, Alex Baker and Ghana’s Evans Tetteh contest the 2000m steeplechase open where Kingston College’s Rikelme Hunter will be hoping to spoil their party.
Excelsior High will be aiming to dominate the intermediate Hurdles as Gregory McFarlane will line up for the Class Two 400m hurdles. St Elizabeth Technical’s Jaeden Campbell and Omarie Mitchell of St Jago High are his main rivals.
In Class One Demarco Bennett will battle St Jago’s Brandon Harris and Edwin Allen’s Theo Morgan.
