Thompson sounds indoor warning with world lead

OLYMPIC GAMES 100-metre silver medallist Kishane Thompson was the star performer at yesterday’s Central Hurdles, Relays and Field events meet at G.C. Foster College after producing a personal best and world-leading 6.48 seconds to top a strong field in the men’s 60 metres.

Thompson, who is preparing to compete Indoors in the event this season, surpassed the previous world lead of 6.52 seconds done by Barnabas Aggera of Ghana on January 11 in Nashville, Tennessee. Thompson’s teammates at MVP, Nishan Ebanks, 6.54, and Rohan Watson, 6.61, both produced personal bests for second and third.

Olympic Games 100m finalist, Tia Clayton, was also at her best in the Women’s 60 metres as the MVP Track Club athlete produced a personal best 7.14 to win the event. Her teammates at MVP, Natasha Morrisson and Joniel Smith also produced personal best times of 7.18 and 7.23 for second and third.

MVP athletes also dominated the 200 metres with Sada Williams and Jade Dyett capturing the women’s and men’s events respectively.

Williams out of Barbados stopped the clock at 23.62 seconds to win, ahead of teammate, Janieve Russell, second in a personal best 24.45. Anelisa Redwood of Bethlehem Moravian College was third in 25.11.

Dyett of Antigua took the men’s event in 21.61, the same time credited to second place finisher, Wendell Miller, with Orlando Wint finishing third in 22.16.
