THE IMPASSE between the Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL) and referees stretched into a second day, with last night’s game between Arnett Gardens and Dunbeholden at the Anthony Spaulding Complex postponed in similar fashion to games on Sunday.

CEO of the PFJL, Owen Hill, said talks are ongoing and that his organisation was working as hard as possible to get to a solution before the next set of games on Wednesday.

“We are trying to figure out the best solution. So there’s nothing so far,” he revealed.

“We haven’t reached a good place yet. It’s ongoing discussions.

“Games are scheduled for the fifth and sixth. Yes (hope to resolve things by then). We are working overtime.”

Nevertheless, Hill said stake-holders, including broadcasters, SportMax, have been very understanding of the situation.

“Everybody has been affected. They (SportMax) are a stakeholder. So everybody as a stakeholder really understand what is happening and everybody is affected.

“Nobody is unaffected by this decision that has been made. We are just trying to find the best solution.”

“We are having emergency meetings and I have been here from morning [yesterday] trying to figure out solutions collectively with the team

“So we are still working through it and no final decisions have been made but we are sitting at the table.”

On Sunday referees withheld their services over monies owed, resulting in the postponed start of the third round in the JPL.

Both parties were hoping to reach a resolution by yesterday. However, those discussions have yet to reach a conclusion.
