Jamaica’s Samantha Hall left it late in qualifying for the women’s discus final as she secured her place on her final attempt, launching a best effort of 63.32 metres to advance from qualification group B.

Hall needed all three attempts to secure her spot in the top 12 after a foul throw on her first attempt.

She recovered on her second attempt, throwing 60.20, but it was just enough to put her just outside the top 12 position needed to advance to the final.

With one throw left, she was able to improve her mark to 63.32 to place 10th overall and advance to the final.

The final is set for tomorrow for Sunday at 5:12 a.m.
