After a slow start in this season’s ISSA daCosta Cup football competition, two struggling giants of Zone E, St Elizabeth Technical High and Munro College, will clash today at STETHS Sports Complex.

The feature game, which is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m., is one of two derby matches that will be played in the parish.

The zone’s last-place team, Sydney Pagon STEM, will try to win their first game when they face second-place B. B. Coke at 1 p.m.

Munro are tied with Ben Francis champions STETHS on five points with one win, two draws, and a defeat. Munro, however, have a better goal difference.

Both teams will be seeking to win their second game of the season, and it should be an interesting battle.

B. B Coke head coach Fitzroy Ambersely told The Gleaner that his team is facing a must-win game against Sydney Pagon.

“We have to keep a high press right through the entire game and play consistent,” said Ambersely. “Although the environment will be very hot, we will cope with it,” he added.

Ambersely stated that the main objective is to continue winning so that they can advance to the second round.

“Based on what our objectives were at the beginning of the season, I think we have been doing well,” said Ambersely.

In the Westmoreland derby, returning team Petersfield High will face Manning’s School at Petersfield Community Centre at 3:30 p.m.

The two Zone C teams have had a perfect start for the season, however, Manning’s have a better goal difference.

In St Ann, Zone K’s Ocho Rios High, with maximum 12 points from four starts and four wins, will match up against Brown’s Town High at Drax Hall. Their match is also set for 3:30 p.m.
