IT WAS one-way traffic for home team Glenmuir High School in their round-of-32 Group 5 ISSA daCosta Cup match against St Mary High, as the Andre Peart-coached side romped to an emphatic 10-0 win to take control of the group.

Glenmuir now sit on six points, tied with Manchester High — who defeated Alphansus Davis 3-0 — but lead the group on goal difference. Both teams are through to the round of 16.

Led by their prolific captain and leading scorer for the past two seasons, Orane Watson, Glenmuir started quickly.

Watson opened the scoring in the seventh minute, added a penalty in the 10th, and completed his hat-trick a minute later. He struck again in the 41st minute to take his season tally to 21 goals.

Glenmuir dominated the first half, adding three more goals through Ricardo Binns (33rd), Orel Miller (44th), and Dustin Cohen (45th) to take a commanding 7-0 half-time lead.

Coach Andrew Peart made four changes at the start of the second half, including resting Watson. Despite that, Glenmuir remained in control, creating several chances but failing to convert early on. St Mary offered little resistance, with only captain Ornaldo Robinson showing a fight up front.

An own goal in the 59th minute made it 8-0, before Jonathan Tomlinson scored in the 61st. Miller sealed the win with his second goal, a penalty in the 87th minute, as Glenmuir completed the 10-0 rout.

Speaking after the match, Peart said:

“For us, it just means three points. Once you attack well, you will score. We came out and imposed ourselves on the game. It was a good performance, and we’re looking forward to the next one.”

Looking ahead, Peart added:

“I expect a very good match when we play Manchester High in our final group game. Three points there, or topping the group, is very crucial going forward.”

Losing coach Kenroy Reid of St Mary High admitted his disappointment, but found positives.

“Looking at the scoreline, I’m disappointed, but the guys tried their best even though they were overpowered. Kudos to Glenmuir. Reaching this far is good for us, and we’re hoping to finish strong at home in our final match,” he said.
