Misir finishes third overall in the 2025 E1 Championships
KINGSTON:
Jamaican motorsport sensation Sara Misir capped off her first season in powerboating with a strong third-place finish at the Miami Grand Prix in Biscayne Bay, November 7-8, securing third place overall in the 2025 E1 Series Championship for Team Blue Rising with 169 points.
Team Brady successfully defended their title with 195 points, while Team Rafa placed second on 184. The finale took place in front of several celebrity team owners, including legendary sporting icons Tom Brady, Rafa Nadal, and Will Smith.
This milestone completes one of the most impressive turnarounds in the championship. Team Blue Rising finished last in the standings last season, but with the arrival of Misir, competing in her rookie year, and veteran John Peeters, who served as team principal in season 1, the team surged into podium contention from the start, beginning with their first podium finish in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on January 25.
For the finale, Misir travelled to Miami immediately after spending the previous weekend in St Elizabeth, where she supported relief efforts in communities severely affected by Hurricane Melissa. Despite experiencing mechanical issues during the finale, Team Blue Rising still secured third place in the race and third overall. Misir said the resilience she witnessed at home became her motivation in Miami.
“This one is for Jamaica. What I saw in St Elizabeth last weekend became my fuel. Even in devastation, people were standing strong and grateful just to have life. Their resilience reminded me what fighting back looks like, and I carried that spirit with me into Miami. We had mechanical issues, but I was determined to see it through because every lap was for Jamaica,” said Misir.
The hurricane’s impact also reached deeply into Jamaica’s motorsport community. Several raceways, already challenged by previous damage from Hurricane Beryl, were further affected, creating additional setbacks for local motorsport development.
Misir’s debut season was marked by consistency, speed, and rapid adaptation to the all-electric E1 platform. Together with Peeters, she delivered a series of strong results, including third place in the Miami Grand Prix finale, a victory in Monaco, third place in Italy on June 28, and third place in the opening round in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on January 25. With four podium finishes in six events, Team Blue Rising closed out the year as one of the championship’s most improved outfits.
“Jamaicans are some of the strongest people in the world, and if this podium gives even a small moment of pride during this difficult period, then it means everything to me,” Misir added.
The E1 Series, the world’s first all-electric race boat championship, continues to grow globally, with Misir emerging as one of its most promising new talents in her debut powerboating season.
Misir returns home and will continue supporting relief efforts, while preparing for the 2026 E1 season.
“I’m aiming for the top of the podium next season. Now I have a full understanding of what it will take, and I cannot wait to create more history,” she said.
