ANOTHER ONE (right), ridden by Shane Ellis, wins the Mother’s Day Special ahead of LOCKDOWN (Paul Francis) over five furlongs straight at Caymanas Park on Saturday, May 10.

ANOTHER ONE should make amends when he tackles overnight-allowance for the third time in Saturday’s feature for the Stargas United Racehorse Trainers Association of Jamaica trophy.

Bred to sprint, ANOTHER ONE’s classic ambitions ended abruptly with an ambulance view in June’s 2000 Guineas, finishing last of 15 runners at a mile.

Anthony Nunes afterwards kept the Aveenu Malcainu-Chinitagoodaz colt restricted to sprints, winning back-to-back races in August, beating foreigner UNRULY MO and MISS MONEYPENNY on the first and last meets, respectively, of the month.

Sizing up a hat-trick of wins at odds of 9-1 a week later, misfortune befell ANOTHER ONE, who had skipped non-winners-of-an-overnight-allowance in an attempted coup against overnight-allowance winners.

Running up in class against fearsome local speedster BOOTYLICIOUS and out-of-class foreigner, FEARLESS FORCE, ANOTHER ONE fell victim to Dick Cardenas’ penchant to pull out of trouble when against the rail heading into the half-mile turn.

Drawn at post-position three, ANOTHER ONE actually broke leading the five and a half furlong event but was quickly surrounded by BOOTYLICIOUS, ZULU WARRIOR, and PRINCE AMAAN rushing down from his wide draw at stall 10 to create a funnel approaching the half-mile.

Cardenas decided he didn’t want an ambulance ride back to the jockeys’ room, or worse, and throttled ANOTHER ONE’s speed, a move that took the colt from disputing the lead to sixth against the rail, circled by FEARLESS FORCE and HUNTSMAN within a half-furlong.

Straightening sixth, almost caught on the turn by TEFLON DON and PERFECT BREW, ANOTHER ONE accelerated rapidly to zip past PRINCE AMAAN and ZULU WARRIOR before taking aim at FEARLESS FORCE chasing BOOTYLICIOUS.

ANOTHER ONE’s surge against the rail, from what appeared a hopeless position after losing possibly five lengths down the backstretch, took him within a length and three-quarter of winner FEARLESS FORCE, who caught BOOTYLICIOUS stealing home.

Were it not for Cardenas opting to steady ANOTHER ONE, losing ground to FEARLESS FORCE, who got first run on BOOTYLICIIOUS, the outcome would have certainly been different.

ANOTHER ONE’s following run was also among overnight-allowance winners, a sentimental effort, attempting to make all from post-position three at five furlongs straight in division two of the Nigel B Nunes Memorial on October 5.

It was a gallant try, but ANOTHER One ran out of steam close to home against a game GET A PEPSI and course-specialist BULLETPROOFCOFFEE, beaten in a fast 58.3 with 122lb.

Ironically, BOOTYLICIOUS had franked the form in division one 30 minutes earlier, clocking 59.2 to beat Jason DaCosta’s pair of PRINCE AMAAN and COMEHOMETOME.

Though none of his four wins were beyond five and a half furlongs and going up against the likes of Jamaica Derby winner, I DREAM AGAIN, ANOTHER ONE is really down in class, facing non-winners-of-an-overnight-allowance with speed to dictate the pace from start to finish.
