SVREL announces 12-race card for Mouttet Mile day

BUILDING ON the excitement of the recently concluded Jamaica Cup race day, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), operators of Caymanas Park, is energetically preparing for the fourth running of the Mouttet Mile, scheduled for December 6.

The Mouttet Mile Invitational is a grade-one race for three-year-olds and older, covering a distance of one mile (1600m). It stands as the premier race day at Caymanas Park and has for successive years boasted the largest purse in the English-speaking Caribbean. Notably, the 2025 purse, announced immediately following the 2024 event, is set at a record-breaking US$300,000 — once again the largest ever offered.

SVREL Executive Chairman Solomon Sharpe expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming race day.

“The energy and expectation around this year’s Mouttet Mile is even higher than previous years, as we’re set for a spectacular clash with some top-class thoroughbreds. Now that all the ‘Win and You’re In’ entrants have been decided, I expect that they will all now be putting in all the necessary preparations to claim the crown jewel of Caribbean horseracing come December 6. Racing fans are definitely in for a treat,” said Sharpe.

MOJITO, who won the Jamaica Cup in fine style last weekend, and RIDE ALL DAY, winner of the Port Royal Sprint, join the list of automatic qualifiers to the prestigious Mouttet Mile through the Win and You’re In series of races. BARNABY, winner of the Ian Levy Cup; I DREAM AGAIN, winner of the Jamaica Derby; and LEGACY ISLE, winner of the Philip Feanny Gold, had already earned their spots.

Sharpe also confirmed that in addition to the feature race, this year’s Mouttet Mile Invitational will have a 12-race card, including the Bruceontheloose Trophy, offering a purse of US$100,000, and the Chairman’s Plate, with a prize of US$40,000.

Beyond the thrilling race card, Mouttet Mile 2025 promises a glamorous and entertaining atmosphere in the stands.

“A major part of the Mouttet Mile experience is the theme of the event,” said Sharpe.

“This year our theme is ‘Back to the ‘70s’ and we are inviting our punters to get into the fun of theme. We encourage everyone to dress in their best interpretation of the ‘70s and come prepared for an unforgettable day of horse racing action.”

The third running of the Mouttet Mile in 2024 was won by FUNCAANDUN, guided by Robert Halledeen, conditioned by trainer Jason DaCosta, owned by Carlton Watson, and groomed by Terrence Bloomfield.
