Middle East turmoil leaves West Indies stuck

Cicket West Indies (CWI) has made a statement in response to news that the West Indies, who are in India for the T20 Cricket World Cup are stuck.
The West Indies, who bowed out of the tournament on the weekend at the Super Eights stage after back-to-back losses to South Africa and India, were to have left the country but airspace restrictions have forced airlines to reschedule.
CWI is, however, maintaining that the grounded West Indians are safe in India.
"These restrictions are a direct result of the security threats posed by military action in the Gulf Region, which has impacted several international flight routes and required airlines to adjust scheduled services for safety reasons," read the release from CWI.
According to the regional body, it is working with the world governing body, the International Cricket Council, governmental authorities, and airline partners, to organise travel as soon as possible.
"The safety and well-being of our players, coaches, and officials remain our highest priority," the release read.
"We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as confirmed travel arrangements are finalised.
"CWI appreciates the understanding and concern of our fans, families, and stakeholders during this time."
