Arnett, Molynes hunt for important wins

Arnett Gardens and Molynes United will both be hunting for precious three points when the two teams meet today at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex at 6 pm in the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League (JPL).
Both teams have been enduring a poor run of form over the past few weeks as Arnett are looking for their first win in five games, while Molynes are looking for their first in six.
It has been an inconsistent season for the Junglists, who are far off the pace of the league leaders, having only picked up 31 points in their 25 games to sit ninth in the league standings.
Their last four games paint a grim picture – draws against Montego Bay United and Dunbeholden, as well as back-to-back defeats to Portmore United, and shockingly, Spanish Town Police.
They will hope to return to winning ways when they play hosts to Molynes United and move up the table for one of the playoff spots.
Molynes will be hoping to pick up three points as they look to avoid the drop for yet another season. They sit 12th in the table on 24 points, just three ahead of the relegation zone.
Their last win came in January when they got the better of Tivoli Gardens in a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
Historically, Arnett has had the better results whenever they faced Molynes, winning seven of their 14 games against the club.
However, Molynes hold the advantage this season as they won the first meeting with a 3-1 win.
Defending champions Cavalier will also be in action as they play hosts to Chapelton Maroon at Stadium East.
Both teams will be pushing for a playoff spot as Cavalier sit sixth with 36 points and Chapelton, eighth with 32.
The teams’ recent results differ coming into today’s fixtures as Cavalier are on a two-game win streak while Chapelton have lost their last two.
Tivoli Gardens, another team in search of a playoff spot, will have the chance to push further up the table as they take on Dunbeholden in their encounter at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
Portmore United will have an opportunity to move back into the JPL top three when they play hosts to Treasure Beach at Ferdi Neita Park.
A win for Portmore will see them passing Racing United, who will be action on Monday, and pull level on points with second-placed Mount Pleasant.
For Treasure Beach, a positive result would put more space between them and the relegation zone as they are 11th in the standing on 26 points.
