Richards heads four-member team to World Indoor Championships

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Quarter-miler Jereem ‘The Dream’ Richards will lead a four-member Trinidad and Tobago team to next week’s 21st World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland.

The 32-year-old Richards, the 2022 400-metre indoor champion, along with Leah Bertrand, Tyra Gittens-Spotsville and Nathan Cumberbatch, were announced by the National Association of Athletics Administrations on Friday to participate at the March 20 to 22 event at the Kujawy-Pomorska Arena Torun.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Bertrand will compete in the 60-metre; Gittens-Spotsville, 27, will compete in the long jump; and 21-year-old Cumberbatch in the 800 metres.

The team will depart T&T yesterday and return on March 23.

The other members of the travelling team include team manager Jehue Gordon, coach Donavan Spotsville, and Nicole Fuentes-Charles as team medic.
