Holland High School sprint star Shanoya Douglas cruised into the semifinals of the girls’ Class One 200m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships on Thursday.
Douglas, who won gold in the Class One 100m in a personal best 10.98 seconds, captured her heat in 24.21.
Her time is the fastest heading into Friday’s semifinals.
Shanique Cassanova of Edwin Allen High School (24.23), Kaysian Sewell of Immaculate Conception High School (24.32), Jesena Williams of Vere Technical High School (24.37), and Breana Brown of Excelsior High School (24.60) are among the other leading qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Wolmer’s Girls School standout Sashana East continued her quest for the Class Two sprint double, clocking 24.34 to win her heat in the 200m.
East had earlier captured the 100m gold medal in 11.21 on Wednesday.
Other top qualifiers include Sashana Johnson of Hydel High School (24.34), Shannia Campbell of St Jago High School (24.53), Khalila Satchwell of Edwin Allen High School (24.55), Annastacia Hall of Holmwood Technical High School (24.59), Tresha-Lee Sutherland of Clarendon College (24.64), and Giana Murray of Mount Alvernia High School (24.78).
In Class Three, Rihanna Scott, the 100m silver medallist, secured her semifinal spot after winning her heat in 24.87.
However, Tyecia McDonald of Hydel High School holds the fastest qualifying time of 24.85.
The other qualifiers are Tawaina Marston of Knox College (24.88), Andriana Pine of Edwin Allen High School (24.96), K-Alee Johnson of Merl Grove High School (25.01), Tashana Godfrey (25.11), Veneisha Pottinger of Mount Alvernia High School (25.20), Seana Wilson of Alpha Academy (25.28), Kerian Jarrett of Maggotty High School (25.29), and Anya Johnson of Immaculate Conception High School, who rounds out the top 10.
In Class Four, Brianna Gray of Excelsior High School stayed on course for the sprint double after securing her place in the 200m semifinals.
The 11-year-old, who won the 100m title on Wednesday, took her heat comfortably in 25.66.
She will be joined by Omeika Shepherd of Vere Technical High School, who recorded the fastest time of 25.30.
Other leading qualifiers include Reneka Reid (25.49), Niesha Campbell of Edwin Allen High School (25.52), Shaunte Morris of Hydel High School (25.77), Iyanna Ivey of Alpha Academy (26.21), Ammaria Walker of Wolmer’s Girls’ School (26.36), De’ana Ellis of Lacovia High School (26.22), and Torrian Wheatley of Foga Road High School.
