MONEY MARKET, ridden by Dane Dawkins, wins the Gregory Park Sprint over five and half furlongs at Caymanas Park yesterday.

Dane Dawkins closed a four-timer with a hat trick yesterday including MONEY MARKET, whose form reversal in the Gregory Park Sprint humbled 4-5 favourite SHE’S THAT GIRL, denying the speedy five-year-old three consecutive victories.

Champion jockey 2022, Dawkins opened the 10-race card in a maiden event aboard imported three-year-old filly, OLIVIA D’ORO, the first of three winners on the programme for last year’s most-improved trainer, Peter-John Parsard, for whom he also won the ninth astride 12-1 longshot, FEELING FREE, to spectacularly close his four-timer.

Dawkins, who opted to remain at Caymanas Park after returning home from Canada’s Assiniboia Downs for last year’s Jamaica Derby, started his hat trick with seven-year-old EMPEROROFTHECATS in the seventh at five and a half furlongs for $1.5m claimers, dismissing SMART TRICK three furlongs out on a track made sloppy by mid-afternoon showers.

Dawkins afterwards landed the gamble at odds of 9-2 with trainer Gary Subratie’s MONEY MARKET, who reported for the five-furlong feature event much sharper than his previous effort when finishing third behind United States-bred OF A REVOLUTION and ZULU WARRIOR three weeks earlier.

Breaking smartly to go in chase of SHE’S THAT GIRL, who carried 107lb with lightweight rider Tajay Suckoo, MONEY MARKET, who had won two races on the trot before a meek run behind OF A REVOLUTION, showed his class by defying 122lb to attack the speedster a furlong and a half out.

MONEY MARKET pulled away to win in 1:00.1, replicating his grade-one winter form when second in the Bruceontheloose to OF A REVOLUTION and chasing Mouttet Mile winner RIDEALLDAY to the furlong pole in November’s Port Royal Sprint.

Dawkins saved his best for a flying finish astride FEELING FREE, angling from post-position two at five furlongs straight to get his mount rolling in mid-track whereas defending two-time champion jockey Raddesh Roman, already stinging from losing two close races on the card, went in the opposite direction, towards the heavier inner ground with 7-5 favourite STRONG MIND.

Roman never knew what hit him as FEELING FREE fell out of the already dark clouds close home, flashing past the favourite to win by a length, signing off Dawkins’ four-timer and three winners for Parsard.

Tevin Foster rode three winners on the programme, landing the nightpan with 7-1 chance GREYT MAGNUM, who returned squeaky clean in muddy conditions after making all at six furlongs.

Foster had earlier booted home back-to-back winners, starting with 3-5 favourite SUDDEN FLIGHT, who slaughtered low-level claimers for the sixth consecutive race, going all the way at five furlongs straight.

PRINCESS FIANIE afterwards hung on by a nose with Foster to deny CHIEF DISSIDENT closing fast with Demar Williams at six furlongs in the sixth.

Racing continues this afternoon with a nine-race programme with the King’s Plate for overnight allowance-runners as the feature event, closing the card at seven and a half furlongs.
