Impressive win by Sir Don

SIR DON, with Raddesh Roman in the saddle, returns to the winners’ enclosuure after capturing the 17th running of the King’s Plate at Caymanas Park yesterday.

SIR DON dismissed AMERICAN AVIATOR and ran away from RAINSVILLE, his lone threat in the stretch run, to clock a fast 1:31.2 in yesterday’s King’s Plate, redeeming himself as a three-year-old after back-to-back losses had blotted an unbeaten run of three consecutive wins last season.

Making his 2026 debut last Saturday, the United States-bred colt got caught behind rivals at five furlongs straight and was beaten a length by TEFLON DON after being switched to the heavier inner rail by champion jockey Raddesh Roman, who appeared a relieved man with yesterday’s win, his sole victory in two days of weekend racing.

On the receiving end three times on Saturday and once yesterday, caught stealing home aboard 13-1 outsider BRAHMA BULL in the third, Roman’s victory aboard SIR DON was not enough to reclaim top spot atop the jockeys’ standings taken over by Tevin Foster, who notched five winners in two days.

Roman has been relegated to third in the standings by the weekend’s hot pair of riders, Foster on 22 and Dane Dawkins, 21, after his four-timer on Saturday.

Sunday’s card started on an innocent note, SLAM SHARP and TITAN TEMPO winning the first two races as 3-2 and 4-5 favourites, respectively, before BENEISON motored from off the pace in the third to reel in BRAHMA BULL, making his way home after fighting off FOUR THIRTY and

7-5 favourite BOB THE BUILDER.BRAHMA BULL ran out of steam near the wire, giving way to BENEISON, who benefited from

FOUR THIRTY pressing his target relentlessly down the backstretch.

ALWAYS WRIGHT predictably won the third but at a king’s ransom of 2-1, handing Michael

Marlowe his second of three winners after teaming up with Tevin Foster to open the nine-race card with SLAM SHARP.

Foster, who rode three winners on Saturday, returned to close Marlowe’s three-timer in the seventh aboard 3-1 shot PLANNER, beating older maidens at six furlongs.

Peter-John Parsard followed up on his Saturday four-timer by unsaddling 3-1 market-springer

DON’T TELL LOU LOU in the winners’ enclosure, first start under his care, beating five-year-

olds, non-winners of two races, at five furlongs straight.

SOCIAL STORM closed the Reggae 6 with a strong debut win for champion trainer Jason

DaCosta, unbelievably sent off at odds of 2-1 with Clive Lynch after scorching the exercise track in the mornings.

BENEISON’s upset pushed the Reggae 6 payout to $89,369, sending an $18.8m single-winner bonus to this Saturday’s meet.

Noting a mandatory payout set for next week, Easter Monday, April 6, Reggae 6 bettors will be scouring the form lines this week, trying to nail the popular bet with a pre-emptive strike as a single-winner on Saturday.
