Pocket Rocket Foundation All-Star team and coaches get ready to depart for St Vincent and the Grenadines for a two-match exchange.

The all-star team selected from the recently concluded Pocket Rocket Foundation Peace Through Sports Six-A-Side Football Competition departed the island yesterday for St Vincent and the Grenadines, where they will participate in two friendly matches against a team made up of some of the top football talent across the islands.

The first match is scheduled for Friday, April 10 at Independence Park, while the second will take place on Sunday, April 12 at Chilli Playing Field in Georgetown, St Vincent.

The delegation is being led by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, founder and chairwoman of the Pocket Rocket Foundation.

“This experience is about more than just football,” Fraser-Pryce said.

“It’s about giving these young men the opportunity to grow, to see what’s possible beyond their immediate environment, and to represent themselves, their communities and country with pride,” she said.

The exchange marks a significant step for the foundation’s Peace Through Sports programme, providing young athletes with valuable regional exposure, while fostering cultural exchange and strengthening ties across Caribbean football communities.

“I am encouraging the young men to make the very best of this opportunity. I want them to go out there and have fun, display their talent, passion and sportsmanship, and of course, we want them to win,” Fraser-Pryce added.

Fraser-Pryce also expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the trip — Nike, InterCaribbean Airlines, Sanmerna Paper Products Ltd, Sports Development Foundation, Gatorade, GraceKennedy, Digicel, and Supreme Ventures.

“We are thankful to all the sponsors who made this trip possible; your help is opening doors for these young men,” Fraser-Pryce said.

The squad features standout players from the six-a-side competition: Shamar Small, Jahiem Dorman, Andre Smith, Kemar Small, Devontay Ricketts, and Ronaldo Barrett of Legend; Joshua Dewar, Devonte Walker, and Ronaldinho Williams of Zessa; Ty Wedderburn and Romaine Hedman of Medley Mixers; Ackeem Petterson of Legacy; and Jermain Fletcher of Ball Spot. The team will be coached by Jeffrey Kerr of Medley Mixers and Keemo Larmond of Legacy.

The initiative is being hosted in collaboration with Awesome Sports International, led by Renson Haynes, a former St Vincent national football player.
