CWI mourns sudden passing of Grenada Cricket chief Gilbert

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC):
Cricket West Indies (CWI) has expressed deep sorrow following the sudden death of Norman Gilbert, president of the Grenada Cricket Association and a respected member of the Windward Islands Cricket Board.
Gilbert, a highly regarded figure in regional cricket, passed away unexpectedly, leaving the cricketing fraternity in mourning.
In an official statement, CWI president Dr Kishore Shallow paid tribute to Gilbert’s lasting impact on the sport.
“Norman was a committed and visionary leader who served the game with distinction,” Shallow said. “His unwavering dedication to the development and promotion of cricket in Grenada and his genuine passion for uplifting the sport at all levels have left an indelible mark on the cricketing landscape.”
Beyond his administrative roles, Gilbert was celebrated for his integrity, humility, and ability to inspire players, fellow administrators, and stakeholders. He was described by Shallow as “a true steward of the game who believed deeply in its power to unite and uplift communities”.
CWI extended heartfelt condolences to Gilbert’s family, friends, and the entire cricketing community in Grenada and across the region.
“At this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with the Grenada Cricket Association and the people of Grenada as they mourn this significant loss,” Shallow added. “Norman’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the strong foundation he helped to build for cricket in Grenada.”
The statement concluded with a tribute to Gilbert’s memory: “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
