ATTACKING midfielder  Christian Pulisic is hoping to lead his country beyond the group stage at the FIFA World Cup.

Pulisic, 27, has scored 33 goals in 86 appearances since making his debut for the Americans in 2016.

He scored one goal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup during the group stage of the tournament, netting the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Iran to secure the United States' advancement to the knockout round.

Pulisic, a former Chelsea player, currently plays for AC Milan in Italy's top flight, where he scored eight goals and provided four assists last season.

In total, he has scored 31 goals in 100 appearances for the Italian club.

Pulisic had an outstanding first half in the Americans' 4-1 win over Paraguay in their opening match. He was, however, pulled out at half-time with a sore left calf. It is uncertain if he will take the field for today's match against Australia as they pursue a deep run in the tournament.
