Haiti claim U14 CFU crown

CAP CANA, Dominican Republic: Haiti were crowned Tier I champions of the 2026 Caribbean Football Union Boys’ Under-14 Challenge Series after a commanding 4-0 victory over Jamaica in yesterday’s final at Cap Cana Sports City in Punta Cana.

Jamaica’s coach Vassell Reynolds said they held their own well in the first half, but the technically superior Haitians proved to be too much on the day.

“I thought we were did well in the first half. We were very competitive but we conceded a goal at a critical moment of the game.

“We knew the Haitian team was a pretty good one. Technically they are very competent and fast with the ball and they proved that today,” he said

“It’s important we continue to work on the speed of players, including speed of thought, our technical capacity and fitness also have some room for improvement.

“It was (a) difficult (game), especially the fact that we came in the game unbeaten with a clean sheet,” Reynolds said.

From the opening whistle, Haiti asserted their dominance, pressing forward and repeatedly testing the Jamaican defence. Ronelson Janvier had an early chance in the 16th minute, but his effort was blocked. Two minutes later, Messi Jean found Janvier, who beat his defender to create a one-on-one opportunity. His attempted chip was denied by Jamaica goalkeeper Knevoy Brown, later named the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper.

After creating several chances, Haiti broke the deadlock in the 28th minute. Janvier laid off to Jodeley Delmas, who calmly placed his shot into the bottom-left corner to give Haiti a half-time lead.

The second half brought more Haitian pressure. Wensley Dumorne doubled the advantage in the 38th minute with a strike from inside the penalty area. Brown made another crucial save in the 46th minute to deny Marvens Fenelon, but Haiti extended their lead moments later. Jean Paul set up Dumorne, who beat two defenders before firing home to complete his brace.

Janvier capped Haiti’s impressive performance in the 59th minute, beating a defender before slotting into the net to seal the 4-0 scoreline.

At the final whistle, Haiti celebrated in style as they lifted the trophy and were officially crowned 2026 CFU Boys’ Under-14 Challenge Series Tier I champions. Delmas finished as the tournament’s leading goalscorer, while Dumorne earned MVP honours.
