Issues surrounding good governance, transparency and accountability were among the reasons cited by Kerry Scott for his resignation as honorary treasurer of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA), following Thursday’s annual general meeting and elections at the Kingston Cricket Club.
In his resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by RJRGleaner Sports, Scott said the decision had not come easily.
“I’ve given considerable thought to the recent decisions and directions of the association, and in particular to whether they remain consistent with the principles of accountability, transparency, good governance and renewal that I believe are essential to the continued development of Jamaica cricket,” he said.
Scott added that, after reflecting on the matter, he believed his “vision no longer aligns with the mandate and direction being pursued by the association”.
He was returned unopposed to the post of honorary treasurer at Thursday’s elections but subsequently announced his intention to step down, effective Friday.
