Each week, The RJRGleaner Group takes a look at the Legend Jamaica Premier League round, highlighting the biggest winners and losers to give fans an at-a-glance picture of how the competition is shaping up.

HITS

Tru-Juice continue to impress

Jamaica Premier League (JPL) debutants Tru-Juice FC recorded another victory in their maiden campaign, hammering Humble Lion 4-0 in an impressive display that featured a hat-trick from Tyrone Mullings.

The result gives the Linstead-based club three wins from six matches and keeps them comfortably inside the league’s top six.

MoBay yet to be beaten

Although they surrendered a two-goal lead in their draw against Arnett Gardens, league leaders Montego Bay United remain unbeaten this season.

The western giants sit atop the standings with four wins and two draws and are shaping up as a formidable unit under Argentine head coach Javier Ainstein.

Tivoli back to winning ways

A narrow defeat to Racing United last week appears to have been little more than a minor setback for Tivoli Gardens, who brushed aside Dunbeholden over the weekend to return to winning ways.

The 3-0 victory moves Tivoli within touching distance of the league’s summit and strengthens the belief that they can challenge the early pace-setters this season.

MISSES

Davion Meggo in the hot seat

Humble Lion’s return to the top flight has turned into a nightmare for the Clarendon-based club, which remains rooted to the foot of the table without a victory and having conceded 17 goals in six matches.

Head coach Davion Meggo is undoubtedly feeling the pressure and will be hoping for a significant improvement when his team faces high-flying Racing United next week.

Cavalier falter against unlikely opponents

Before Monday’s encounter, Cavalier had won 13 of their previous 15 matches against Molynes United, making their 1-0 defeat all the more surprising.

The former champions, who have endured an inconsistent start to the campaign, will also be without veteran Nicolas Hamilton for their next match after he was shown a red card.

Dunbeholden lose fifth game

Dunbeholden’s difficult start to the season continued with a fifth defeat in six matches.

The St Catherine-based club had no answer to Tivoli Gardens’ attacking display and slumped to a 3-0 loss.

With Waterhouse next on the schedule, Dunbeholden will be searching for a response to revive their campaign.
