GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):
Lawrence Farnum has replaced Denesh Ramdin as West Indies captain for the Essequibo leg of the ongoing International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over40s World Cup.
A former Guyana youth representative, Farnum captained the West Indies Over40s T20 team in Pakistan earlier this year.
He has taken over from regular skipper Ramdin, who is unavailable for personal reasons, for the team’s two matches in Region Two at the Anna Regina National Stadium and the Joe Jagmohan Hampton Court Ground.
Farnum, a left-handed batter, began his stint in charge with a victory over Canada on Saturday and was hopeful of securing back-to-back wins, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.
The West Indies, who had won two of their first four matches, were taking on Wales at Anna Regina at press time last night.
The regional side opened the tournament with defeats to Australia and defending champions South Africa before rebounding with victories over Namibia and Canada.
