HITS
Donovan Duckie igniting the ‘FyahHouse’
When head coach Javier Ainstein left Waterhouse, questions were raised about who would fill his shoes at Drewsland. A familiar face in Donovan Duckie has stepped up to answer them.
With Monday’s win over Cavalier, Waterhouse moved clear at the top of the standings and extended their unbeaten run to eight matches, comprising five wins and three draws.
Mt Pleasant continue to climb
Mt Pleasant appear to be edging closer to their best form after securing a second consecutive victory with a 2-1 win over Molynes United.
A slow start to the season left the St Ann-based club hovering near the relegation zone, but they now sit just outside the top six and are level on points with Cavalier.
Treasure Beach registered their first win of the season in spectacular fashion, edging high-flying Racing United 4-3 in a thrilling contest.
While they remain in the relegation zone, the victory should provide a significant boost in confidence as the St Elizabeth-based club continues its fight for survival.
MISSES
Humble Lion fall short ... again
Humble Lion suffered their sixth defeat of the season after being hammered 3-0 by Dunbeholden.
Having conceded 22 goals in eight matches and still searching for a first win, the newly promoted outfit appear headed for a difficult campaign unless results improve quickly.
MoBay struggling to close games
Montego Bay United’s defensive issues continue, with the western outfit now winless in their last three matches.
Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Portmore United highlighted a recurring problem for Ainstein’s men, who once again took the lead but failed to hold on and secure all three points.
Pennicooke without his shooting boots
When Molynes United faced Mt Pleasant on Monday, Marlon Pennicooke was entrusted with leading the attack and spearheading an upset victory.
Instead, the striker appeared to leave his shooting boots at home, missing several opportunities to open his account before watching the final 30 minutes from the sidelines as Mt Pleasant held on for a narrow win.
