Sporting a glass chin exposed by FUNCAANDUN and RIDEALLDAY in back-to-back Mouttet Mile renewals, two-time runner-up LEGACY ISLE is expected to use Saturday’s Temperence Oaks Trophy as a warm-up for the Bruceontheloose Sprint over the same trip.

Imported in 2024 to defend Rohan Crichton’s 2023 Mouttet Mile title with ROUGH ENTRY, LEGACY ISLE, whose turnaround time out of quarantine was just 11 days, paid the price when he was caught at the wire by fellow American-bred FUNCAANDUN.

A year later, after posting back-to-back Grade One victories in the six-furlong None Such Trophy and the seven-furlong Gold Cup, LEGACY ISLE ran into RIDEALLDAY, who reeled him in a furlong from home to capture the US$300,000 event.

Now that stablemate THE PRINCE’S SPUR has won consecutive races in impressive fashion, the latest being the Jamaica Cup over nine-and-a-half furlongs, LEGACY ISLE appears set to target the US$100,000 Bruceontheloose Sprint.

LEGACY ISLE went on a three-race Grade One winning streak after losing to RIDEALLDAY, easily taking the Chris Armond Memorial three weeks later before adding the Reggae Trophy and the seven-furlong Eros Trophy in May and June, respectively.

His lone defeat in three starts this season came against PHENOMENAL POWER, whom he chased to the final furlong of the Diamond Mile before weakening out of contention.

Matched against Anthony Nunes’ NAUTICAL STAR and OF A REVOLUTION, both of whom were outsprinted by DOTHRAKI over six and a half furlongs last time out, LEGACY ISLE should have a field day.
