Can you help Kimiko Jones?
Kimiko Jones of Paradise, Norwood, St James, is urgently in need of assistance to pay for her first dialysis treatment for renal failure.
Jones, who came to The Gleaner with swollen feet, and a puffed stomach, and looking tired, assisted by a friend, presented a referral sheet from the Kingston Public Hospital, outlining that she needs J$60,000 to start her treatment, money she does not have.
"I was admitted to the hospital from May 12. They sent me to the hospital in St Ann, and then sent me to Kingston Public Hospital, and they drew water out of my belly," the 24-year-old Jones said in a soft tone, pausing to catch her breath.
"They said it costs $60,000 (for dialysis treatment), that is what they told me," she added.
In addition to her swollen limbs, abdomen and tiredness, The Gleaner was also informed that Jones suffers from shortness of breath, and can neither stand nor walk for very long as a result of her illness.
When asked if she could source help from relatives or friends to pay for her treatment, she said they were not able to give financial assistance, as they do not have funds required to maintain her long-term treatment.
